The Local Governing Committee at St. Mary’s is, like most Governing Committees, with volunteers drawn from three discreet groups who bring to the school a range of skills and expertise to assist in its governance.
The structure of the Local Governing Committee is made up of Foundation Governors, elected by the Diocese of Brentwood, Parent Governor, elected by parents, Staff Governor, elected by staff; this also includes the Headteacher. Governors serve one term of office, (one term is four years). The Local Governing Committee meet at least once per term along with the sub-committees of The Finance Working Party, Curriculum and Personnel. The Admission committee meets annually.
Parents who wish to contact a member of the Local Governing Committee, may do so by contacting Mrs Alison Bishop, Clerk to Governors on:

Magdalene Amegashitsi - Parent Governor I am a practising Catholic, a mother of two young children currently attending the school and an active ambassador for education and diversity in my Industry (Technology). I am keen to add my input within the Governance Body of St. Marys Catholic Primary School to enhance the potential of our future generation and in delivering excellence. I am also keen to see each child develop their full potential through the opportunities made available to them internally through the school and externally throughout our community. I am passionate and actively involved in efforts to get more Women in Tech and driving diversity in the Tech Industry. I am a role model as well as an Ambassador for the Tech Talent Charter. Our initiatives range from hosting Global Webinar’s, organising and running ‘Coding for Kids’ Sessions during school holidays. |

Joyanna Shaw - Foundation Governor My name is Joyanna Shaw, I have been a foundation governor for three years. I am an active parishioner at Our Lady Star of Sea church and have lived in Tilbury for 18 years. Education is very important to everyone |
Serene Yeboah Jackson- Parent Governor My name is Serene. I am the elected Parent Governor alongside Mrs Harrod. I currently have 1 child attending the school, and 2 older daughters at Secondary School. St.Mary's provides an education to all children, regardless of ability to ensure each child reaches their full potential. This why I wanted to become a Governor. I want every child to be at the centre of all we do, to raise achievement, to ensure wellbeing and to be proud of every child at the school, not just my own. |

Angela Odozi - Foundation Governor
"My name is Angela, I recall how exhilarated I was to be appointed as a Foundation Governor at St Mary’s School. I am a member of the parish community and actively supports the church, I work with the Local Authority (Homeless Department). I am a professional with BA/Master’s degree in Psychosocial and International Law. I believe that my experience and qualifications would enable me to communicate effectively, listen and contribute positively to the improvement and development of St Mary’s school. My son who is currently in his first year in university, attended St Mary’s School few years ago and I can definitely say that he enjoyed the many opportunities provided by the school, as well as the care he received from the qualified teachers and staffs. Hence, I hold St Mary’s school very close to my heart, as such I am keen to provide my supports and be involved in the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, in creating a safe and wellbeing environment for the children".
